The work around I was given: As a workaround, you can reassign the transaction to a different contact or a dummy contact first, then generate the EOY Giving Summary. After generating the EOY Giving Summary, you can reassign the transaction back to the original contact. - We get several of these a month. Please implement this as soon as possible. Also, agree with excluding merch and tickets for end of year giving.
